NICU & Medical Trauma, Complex Births
When birth or a medical event becomes a crisis, it can be disorienting and overwhelming. Time in the NICU or ICU, unexpected complications, or caring for a medically complex family member can have lasting emotional effects, long after the immediate crisis has passed. I work with parents and individuals carrying these experiences, helping them process what happened and move forward with greater steadiness, connection, and integration, even amidst uncertain prognoses.

Trauma & EMDR
I often sit with people whose past experiences don’t feel entirely in the past. Even when life has moved on, trauma can linger in the body or mind, showing up in ways that are unwelcome and difficult to shake, no matter how hard we may try to move beyond it. When it’s a good fit, I incorporate EMDR, an evidence-based approach I’ve used with many clients to reprocess distressing memories. I also incorporate somatic and psychodynamic approaches, always at a pace that feels steady and manageable for each client.

Grief, Loss and What Comes Next
As a counselor, I’ve come to learn that almost everyone has been touched by grief and loss, whether through death, illness, divorce, empty nesting - the list goes on. These losses can rock us to our core, and also uncover strengths we never knew we had. I work with clients to honor their losses, find ways to grieve and pay homage to what was, and slowly find ways to carry forward, and even thrive.
