Nice to meet you

I’m Amy Costello, a trauma-focused, EMDR-trained counselor based in Austin, Texas. I work with individuals and couples navigating trauma, grief, relationship strain, and major life transitions, including the aftermath of medical crises such as complex pregnancies, NICU and ICU stays, and serious illness.

In our work together, I help you slow things down and make sense of what you’re carrying, at a pace that feels manageable.

My approach is collaborative, steady, and attuned. I draw from psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness, and EMDR, but more than any one method, I focus on what’s happening in the room and on staying present with you. The goal is not just insight, but building a steady, trusting relationship where we can move forward with clarity.

Before becoming a counselor, I spent two decades as an investigative journalist, including five years reporting in Africa on human rights issues.

My clinical work has included supporting parents of medically complex children and individuals navigating medical crises, as well as adults and couples working through trauma and relational challenges.

If this feels like a fit, I’d be glad to connect. I offer a free 15–20 minute consultation so we can see whether working together feels right.
